With each tee you buy, we make a $10 loan to this week's student (Sbu in Africa) in your name.

  • Each week we offer new tees on sale & when you buy one we give a $10 loan to a low-income student in the developing world. Plus, you're credited the $10 when the student repays the loan!

Ends in:

How it works

1) Buy a tee, make a loan. 2) Get re-paid. 3) Pay-it-forward. With each t-shirt you buy $10 is given in your name to this week's loan recipient. When the student repays the loan (0% interest) you will get a credit for $10 (per tee purchased). You can use the $10 toward a new tee, donate it to us, or receive it back via Paypal.

story1
Sbu shares his story in his own words...

"Hi, I'm currently enrolled at the University of Zululand for a second year in Environmental Planning & Development but unfortunately my father passed away this year and he was the one supporting me. I really need some assistance in order to pursue my goal to obtain my degree in 2013. Thank you. I will appreciate some financial assistance and that can help me to free my family and my community from the trap of poverty. I look forward to hearing from you."

This week's designs
Men: "Human Rights" by Daniel Blignault
Women: "Love, Love, Love" by Pretty, an African orphan.

We hope you like this week's designs. The men's tee was designed by Daniel Blignault and the women's tee was design by Pretty, one of the kiddos we work with in South Africa. All of our t-shirts are printed with eco-friendly inks. Our tees are the perfect gift that gives back!

FAQ

What happens if more money is raised than the minimum loan goal?

That's a good problem to have! Our minimum loan goals are generally for 1 year of tuition. If the minimum is exceeded we will provide more than one year of school loans for the student. Otherwise, we will put the excess funds in a fund for other worthy students.

When & how do I get the $10 credit per tee purchased?

As soon as this week's student graduates, gets a job and begins to repay their loan at 0% interest, you will get an email from us with instructions to apply the credit toward a new tee, donate it to CommonThreadz, or receive it in cash via Paypal.

Are you a non-profit?

Yes, ScholarTees is an initiative from Common Threadz, a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Austin, Texas. Our tax-id is 26-0243748
